Air Fryer Chicken Breast

Jazz up your weekly salads with this flavorful protein option, Air Fryer Chicken Breast! We used Italian spices to season the chicken, so if you have any Italian recipe on hand you are looking to make for the week, you can substitute whatever meat it calls for (most Italian recipes are made with a red meat that’s high in cholesterol and calories) for this air-fried alternative! We didn’t use any sort of bread coating to keep it low carb, but if you are looking to enhance the crunch factor, feel free to coat with a light dusting of flour mixed into seasoning before placing into the fryer.

If your chicken breasts look large enough to have just finished chest day at the gym, we definitely recommend slicing in half lengthwise to ensure an even golden fry. Our breasts were on the skinnier side of things, so we left them as is and shortened the cook time a bit to avoid turning it into a jerky! (But it would still be pretty tasty!)

This chicken alone accounts for a good portion of your daily recommend protein intake. Pair it with a side of high protein vegetables like broccoli, asparagus, or spinach and your body will be jumping for joy at the nutrition you just fed it!

This chicken is so easy and versatile, it can be added to nearly any recipe – soups, salads, or even with your eggs for breakfast! This recipe is super easy and a staple for every kitchen. We can’t wait for you to try it out! Tag us in your social posts if you prepare it!

  • Cooking spray (or rub on oil of choice – use about ¼ tbsp per chicken breast)
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breast, about 7-8oz each
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano (around 1/8 tsp per breast, and you can sub parsley, basil, thyme, etc.)

1.  In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano together.

2.  Spray the chicken breasts on the presentation side (smooth side) with cooking spray of choice (we used avocado cooking spray, but olive oil spray has similar nutrition!)

3. Sprinkle some of the seasoning blend on each chicken breast and use hands to pat and help the seasoning stick.

4. Place the chicken breast, seasoned side down, in the air fryer.

5. Spray the bare side, which is now facing up, and sprinkle on the remaining seasoning.

6. Cook for 8 minutes (6 minutes if you have thin chicken breasts) on 360º.

7. Flip over and cook until internal temperature reaches at least 165º, about another 6 to 8 minutes on 360º depending on the size of your chicken breast.

8. Remove the basket from the air fryer and allow the chicken to rest for about 5 minutes before cutting into it. This lets the juices redistribute and helps the chicken be juicer.

9. Serve and enjoy!
