Despite what you may have been led to believe, turkey is actually very conducive to be the base of a flavorful dish, plus it’s a great source of protein. It just might require a little more attention! Luckily, the taco seasoning has several different spices that combine into the ultimate flavor combination for your turkey tacos! If the flavor is not coming out how you like, add just a pinch of salt. Still not how you like it? Curb the temptation to sprinkle in more salt and instead grab a lime and squeeze some juice into your pan for the flavors to come to life!

Don’t believe us? Try it for yourself! We are confident your family won’t be able to tell the difference, and your family will be happy to leave the table without an upset tummy from all of the grease in the other less healthy ground meat options.
We topped our turkey taco lettuce wraps with some of the cherry tomatoes for an added sweet and juiciness, avocado for a creamy texture, and salsa to tie it all together! Trust us, you will be adding this recipe into your new bariatric diet! It may even get added into your bariatric meal prep.
One serving is one turkey taco lettuce wrap with about two spoonfuls of the turkey meat. Trust us when we say this dish is filling! We each had one lettuce wrap and were stuffed throughout the day! For those in your family who do not eat bariatric portions, feel free to prep some brown rice and black beans for a healthier version of the typical rice-and-beans side dish that comes with your favorite Tex-Mex dishes! Add this to your meal prep menu and tell us how it went!
Enjoy this bariatric recipe whether you have had the gastric sleeve or gastric bypass surgery.
