Sweet Potato Hash | The 1 bariatric reicpe you need to try for the holidays

A bariatric friendly fall recipe, Sweet Potato Hash

How long has it been since you’ve enjoyed a hash recipe? For some post-op weight loss surgery patients the answer is probably too long. Our Sweet Potato Hash recipe serves many things we need at any given moment:

  • All in one nutritional dish
  • Healthy side dish for family meals
  • Reliable leftovers that are easy to reheat

Nail all of the savory holiday flavors with one recipe. Our Sweet Potato Hash recipe is the perfect side dish to bring to your next holiday gathering. Best of all, it’s tasty and nutritious. So many wonderful flavors coming together – sweet potatoes, onions, red bell peppers, shallots, and turkey bacon.

If you’re looking to limit your calorie intake, we highly recommend placing all your ingredients and seasonings into a zip lock bag and top it off with a non-stick spray of your choice. Once you have that done, close your bag and shake all of your ingredients well.  Not only is this useful to help limit the calories coming from your cooking spray/cooking oil, but it’s also an excellent way to coat all of your ingredients with your seasonings.

While this hash bakes in the oven, your kitchen will be filled with a holiday aroma. The rosemary sprigs really stood out in this recipe both in scent and flavor. After your first bite, you’re left with a mildly sweet and salty flavor coming from the sweet potatoes and turkey bacon. Take this dish to your next holiday dinner and if you have leftovers, warm it up the next morning and top it off with an egg for a protein-filled holiday breakfast.

But don’t just save this dish for a holiday gathering! You can make this bariatric recipe any time. It’s great for a family dinner, meal prep for the week or any time you have a craving for sweet potatoes after weight loss surgery.
