Bariatric Friendly Recipe Egg Roll In A Bowl Picture

Egg Roll In A Bowl

Egg Roll in a Bowl, Low Carb and Bariatric Friendly Recipe!

Probably one of the best things about ordering Asian takeout is this yummy little appetizer that comes with every meal. Stuffed with flavorful veggies and meat, it gets our bellies and our tastebuds ready for what’s to come!

But who says it needs to stop there? I don’t know about you guys, but I LOVE a good appetizer. Plus, they’re often the perfect size for me. The further I get a long in my bariatric journey, the more I realize just how much we are overserved at meals which plays a huge factor in weight gain. Appetizers, however, are usually packed with all the flavor my tastebuds want and in the perfect size for me! With this bariatric friendly recipe, we made egg rolls even more bariatric friendly by removing the greasy fried aspect of it and plopping it an easy to eat bowl. Kind of like ordering a burrito without the tortilla, this is an egg roll without the wonton paper! That makes it low fat, low carb, high-protein, and full of nutrition and flavor!

Plus, it was ready in less than 30 minutes! Rachel Ray who?! All we had to do as far as preparation goes, was slice a bit of green onions for garnish. We grabbed a bag of coleslaw mix instead of hand shredding cabbage to save some time. Same for the garlic and ginger – you can always buy them pre-minced, but if you feel like using all fresh ingredients, more power to you!  Whatever your schedule allows for, go for it! This dish will be delicious either way you go! We gave a bowl to everybody in the office, and there wasn’t much talking going on…just a lot of mmm’s and head nods! Tell me a better compliment to a chef than that?! Everything is made in one pan, so clean up was done in a cinch! You can also double this recipe if you’re having company over. Serve it in a bowl and have some lettuce leaves on hand for a quick and easy lettuce wrap! Doesn’t that sound amazing?  I’m drooling just thinking about it! Sliced green onion or even those small red chilies give this dish even more eye-catching color and a fresh bite everyone is sure to enjoy.
