Puree Recipe – Get Your Protein In | Weight Loss Surgery Diet 

If you’re in phase 2 or 3 of the post bariatric surgery diet, you’ve been instructed to eat only pureed or soft foods. We know… this may not be the most appealing couple of weeks for your palette- BUT we’re here to change that, one pureed recipe at a time.

This garlic & white bean puree is packed with the flavor of the fresh roasted garlic, balanced with thyme, cottage cheese, and other seasonings.

The main ingredient, white beans, will help fulfill your protein goals for the day AND makes the dish very filling! Perfect for weight loss and post-bariatric surgery patients, no need to worry about overeating, this recipe will keep you full with delicious and healthy ingredients.

Your prep time is up to 1 ½ hours. Your time is valuable, we know, but this recipe is well worth it. You’ll get many servings and maybe watch a few shows while it cooks. Plus, you’ll have several meals prepped and ready for the week. Keep them in your fridge and grab one when you’re packing your lunch, or when you just don’t feel like cooking.

Bariatric Friendly Garlic White Bean Puree

Ingredients

1 head of garlic

2 cups dried white beans

½ cup cottage cheese

Pepper to taste

1 ¾  tsp salt

½ tsp chopped thyme

Directions

1. Cut off the top of the garlic head to expose the cloves

2. Cover the cut side with olive oil

3. Wrap the garlic loosely in foil

4. Roast at 400°F until soft (about 1 hour)

5. Pour beans in a pot and add water to cover the beans by 3 inches

6. Bring to a boil

7. Cover & simmer until beans are very tender (1-1½ hours)

8. Add the cooked beans and the rest of the ingredients to a blender

9. Blend the ingredients until the puree is the consistency of mashed potatoes

10.  Serve & Enjoy!
