Aside from being bariatric-friendly, you’ll enjoy amazing flavors while fueling your body with a decent amount of protein. Not only is it a great feeling to try new meals that are friendly to your diet, but it’s also a great feeling to not worry about being set back in your weight loss progress.

By now as a bariatric patient, you probably know the importance of keeping a consistent daily protein count. Keeping a decent protein count can help your body feel fuller longer, which is just one key element to a successful weight loss journey. Shrimp alone carry a very decent protein count, which is better for you and your newly restricted stomach.
In addition to the shrimp, we’ve paired it with quinoa, which is a popular substitute for most grains. Despite being seed, these tiny seeds alone hold a big nutritional value. Quinoa is a gluten-free, whole-grain carbohydrate, as well as a whole protein, meaning they’re full of nine essential amino acids.
When you add in the remaining fresh ingredients, you have yourself a meal that will outshine anything you’ve made since weight loss surgery. Our Caribbean shrimp recipe is unlike any bariatric meal you’ve had. Aside from being a great source of protein, this dish was super flavorful considering it only required limited ingredients. In the first bite, you’ll realize that the mango really adds a lovely element to it all. You’ll also be surprised to find out that while making this meal, we avoided salt and pepper, and the taste value was still exquisite!
One surprising element about this recipe was that it was served chilled. After you cook your shrimp accordingly, they will then rest on a bed of ice. From there, once you prepare the other ingredients, by the time you combine them all together you have a chilled meal. If you follow our measurements precisely then you’ll have your meal prep for the next couple of days. Once your leftovers go into the fridge, they’ll be ready to eat come lunchtime.
