By now as a bariatric patient, you probably know the importance of keeping a consistent daily protein count. Keeping a decent protein count can help your body feel fuller longer, which is just one key element to a successful weight loss journey. 

Shrimp is a very popular and trusted ingredient we love to cook with simply because of its nutritional value. Shrimp alone carry a very decent protein count, which is better for you and your newly restricted stomach. 

In addition to the shrimp, we coated it in egg, unbleached almond flour, chia seeds and parmesan cheese. Unbleached almond flour is not only gluten-free but it is another source of additional protein and contains other antioxidants that are beneficial to the body. 

Once you’ve coated your shrimp, with the help of an air fryer you’ll have your meal ready in minutes. Aside from being a great source of protein, this dish was super flavorful considering it only required limited ingredients. After your first crunchy bite, you’ll be wanting to make this again for your weekly meal prep. 

What sets this recipe apart is our delicious garlic aioli sauce that was drizzled on top. This gives the recipe the perfect touch of flavor.

Parmesan Shrimp Ingredients

1 pound shrimp-peeled & deveined

1 egg – beaten

1/4C chia seeds

1/4C unbleached almond flour

1/8C parmesan cheese

1/2t garlic powder

Garlic Aioli Ingredients

1tbsp garlic minced

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp vegan mayo

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper


1. Beat 1 egg in a bowl

2. In a separate bowl mix together chia seeds, almond flour, parmesan cheese and garlic powder.

3. Dip and coat each shrimp in the egg, then in the mixture. Place in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

4. Air fry for 12 at 400°F. Repeat with remaining shrimp.

5. For the aioli, mix all ingredients in a bowl and drizzle on top to serve.
